About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

MICHIGAN TOURISM FROM YESTER-YEAR

I have come across a very unique website that I’d like to share with you. At least I think it is unique, but it might just be unique to residents of Michigan.

When you have time to sit down and spend a GOOD DEAL of time in front of your computer, go to www.waterwinterwonderland.com. There is an abundance of various types of history of various types of entertainment. For example, there are amusement parks, raceways and speedways, drive in theatres, OLD hotels (the old photos are fantastic!), old motels (Maybe some are still open??), old rail depots, old town photos (some towns I’ve never heard of!), photos and history of old gas stations… you get the idea!

I have spent about an hour on this site and I still haven’t seen all of it! If you like history and nostalgia, take the time to book mark this site!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and that just does NOT seem possible. I’ve still got two chocolate chip pecan pies to bake and then I’ll get to the heart of the meal! The pumpkin pies are in the freezer. It is a good thing my pies are not judged on how they look but instead on how they taste. The pumpkin pies are not a pretty sight. My daughter and her friend will be up for the rest of the week, so I know you will understand that I won’t be updating for a couple of days.

I hope all of you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving and that if you are one of my military readers, please know that Dan and I will keep you in our prayers and hope everyone will be home safely soon.
