About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

I couldn't share this info with you until today because decisions still not been made. When I first talked with my sister about the pathology report, she indicated that without radiation, Gene would not live and WITH radiation it most likely would leave him with permanent brain damage. The following is an email that my sister has sent out to everyone who has been with them through this whole ordeal;

Dear Friends, Gene had a biopsy on a mass in his brain and it is postivie for lymphoma. We are at Bronson now and will be heading to Ann Arbor in the near future. We will not have much notice, as soon as a a bed is open they will ship us. We will be seeing a specialist in radiation lymphoma. We still pray for a miracle and know that God may have other plans for us. We don't know if there is treatment options at this point. Gene has had some brain damage from the chemo and we don't want any more. Please keep praying for us and for your own faith. I know that this is testing all of us and we don't want this to be the cause of any of you losing your faith. God is with us, we know that. I don't know if I will have internet access where we are going so just keep praying. You can calll Riverside Church or Jack and Susie for updates. Although, Jack and Susie may be with us for part of it. Please keep the faith and hold strong. Our love to you. Christy and Gene.

  1. hello cathy, i read your post about your brother-in-laws battle with cancer and i know that everyone who reads it is placing him and your sister in their thoughts and prays. don't give up great things can happen. barb.

  2. Barb, Thank you again. We just talked with Christy and Gene and they are still waiting to hear from Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor can do site specific radiation so there would not be the brain damage IF they feel they can be of any help to Gene at this point. They are also looking at a small bone marrow transplant. IF they do the radiation, it will be 6-8 days worth, not 6 weeks worth. Christy and Gene should find out today if Ann Arbor hospital thinks they can help or not; if so, then they will be transferred by ambulance. Christy will be allowed to ride with Gene.

    We all appreciate everyone's prayers and thoughts.
