The first photo shows a huge white pine tree that came down and crushed a picnic table.
The 2nd photo, upper right, shows a squashed tent. Fortunately, the campers had JUST vacated their tent prior to this coming down.
The bottom left photo shows what is left of one of the swings.
The bottom right photo shows what use to be a beautiful, huge white pine and a very large cherry tree.
Our guests and we were EXTREMELY FORTUNATE that no one was hurt and we are so thankful for that blessing.
It is so sad that these beautiful trees are gone. And again we are fortunate because we could have lost a lot more of these trees.
Guests are telling us that we have a LOT of trees down on the nature trails through the woods. Dan and I haven't had a chance to get back there yet. First thing that has to be done is the campground, then we'll worry about the nature trail.
- Cathy Clementz
- A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!
