Don’t forget to watch the Preakness!!!
This is a photo of Brother Derek, the horse that I picked for the Derby (who came in 5th at that race). I’m still rooting for Brother Derek, although I would be thrilled for Barbaro if he could win this 2nd race of the Triple Crown. It has been 28 years since a Triple Crown winner! It would be VERY exciting!
This is a little of the “talk” about Brother Derek: Brother Derek's trainer Dan Hendricks at the Alibi Breakfast. He said, "The Kentucky Derby answered a lot of questions. He could come from behind, he could take dirt, have a troubled trip and still run his race. He never quit trying. We knew going in we were going to have a problem with the outside post but he overcame much adversity. This time he just has to run a mile and 3/16."
Post positions were selected for the 131st Preakness on Wednesday afternoon in the ESPNzone in Baltimore, Maryland. As in the past, the horses were drawn at random for a selection order and their connections then picked their post positions. A field of only nine was drawn this year, with Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro set as the morning line favorite at even odds while his main rivals Brother Derek and Sweetnorthernsaint were set at 3-1 and 4-1 respectively
Brother Derek is position 5 and Barbaro is at 6.
