About Me

My photo
A long time ago, I was a child. (I started out as Cathy First from Colon, Mi.) For the past several years I’ve been an adult. A lot of things went on between those two stages of life; probably no more or no less than anyone elses. My husband and I moved to “da U .P” from southern Lower Michigan several years ago (yes we were trolls at one time). We owned and operated and operate Clementz’s Northcountry Campground and Cabins just north of Newberry, Michigan until May 2015. We have grown kids and grandkids (who all live downstate). My passion is life and all that Nature has to offer us and trying to photograph it in unique ways. Our intention in life is to see all that Nature has to offer us. We hope that you will be a part of our adventures as we cruise through our lives together. Come back often!

It is nearing the date that we will once again open for business!

One of our biggest “draws” is our location. We are centrally located to the Eastern U.P. attractions. The following list is just a few of the attractions. There are scenic drives that we can direct you to. If you are “into” lighthouses, you’d want to include a drive to Crisp Point. How about scheduling a flight over the Tahquamenon Falls and then up the Lake Superior shoreline to fly over the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and lighthouse. On up the coast a bit further, you can fly over Crisp Point lighthouse.

We are only a little over an hour from Mackinac Bridge. You can take Sheplar’s Ferry or take the Arnold Line from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island. You will want a long day to enjoy all that there is to see and do on the Island. While on the Island you can rent a bike, rent a horse, take a carriage ride or walk. There are NO motorized vehicles on the Island.

There are so many things to see and do in the area; you will need more than just a couple of days! If we can help you plan your activities, please let us know! You can visit our website at www.northcountrycampground.com. We offer secure, 24/7 online reservations. If your request for a reservation results in “no availability found”, please call or email. We have not put our entire inventory of campsites on the reservation system. Our lodging is not part of the reservation system.
